The leaves are now a gorgeous red, yellow, and orange hue. The weather is beginning to have a crispness in the air. To me, it’s the most wonderful time of year. With this being said, our days are becoming slower now that the season has changed. Our autumn daily rhythm has now been perfected for our family. This time of year, I am always intentionally trying to take our time throughout the day. Summers are fun but exhausting. I am glad for the beginning of the quiet season. Today, I will share with you a sneak peek into our autumn daily rhythm.

Slow Mornings
We are now in our 7th year of homeschooling, so our mornings are slow. As life transitions and changes, so do our rhythms. This autumn, I am at the end of my second trimester with baby number five. I am catering to our autumn daily rhythm with my pregnancy. It does look a little different than the previous daily rhythms I have shared in the past. Our mornings look like this now
- Rise together around 7-7:30
- I begin breakfast while my children play
- We eat breakfast together
- As I drink my coffee and read for myself my children play
- Measuring time with coffee, we then do our morning chores together
This includes getting ready for the day - We begin our homeschool until lunch at 11:30

Simple Afternoons
I try to make our afternoons simple with not too much scheduled. I find overscheduling my children with a bunch of playdates and extra curricular activities adds to the chaos of a family of 6. We normally have one thing we do outside of the house once a week and one extra curricular a week. That varies week to week. Our afternoons look like
- Finishing homeschool
- Storytime together with themed books for the season
- Playing outside
- An activity or unstructured play
- Transition to dinner
Some of our favorite books right now are The House on Maple Street, The Thank You Book, Five Silly Turkeys and The Fox and the Falling Leaves.

Quiet Evenings
Evenings are time for our whole family to spend together. Right now that looks like many books, handcrafts and just being together. Our evenings look like
- Dinner together at our dining room table
- Evening chores
- Family time
- Bedtime routine
- Bed

This is what our autumn daily rhythm looks like right now. We try to keep it peaceful and with quality time. What does your rhythm look like for autumn?
