How to Create an Easy Summer Routine?

Summer routine tips for kids at home

Summer is finally here and it makes my heart so happy. I’m a homeschool mama and we just finished up our homeschool a week ago. My kids are so excited as am I. With that being said, we still have a routine during summer, an easy summer routine. This keeps the chaos down in our home and my children still know what is expected. This is our easy summer routine.

Morning routine

Stick with it. Create a new one if you need it just for the summer. This helps with calming down the chaos. Children know what’s expected and what needs to be done. This includes the time they wake up to getting ready for their day. This will help your mornings go smoother. Don’t forget to include your own morning routine. This is just as important for you as it is for your kids.

Chores

Nobody likes doing this but as a family it makes accomplishing them easier. Each of my kids has only a few chores that help me around the house. We always try to complete them in the morning so we will have the rest of the day to do the fun activities.

Summer Learning

We still make time for learning. We all sat down and decided which days we would dedicate to a specific subject. The kids had so much fun creating this list and more willing to do the subjects because they had a say. Here is what our week looks like. Mondays they chose animals from our animal encyclopedia. Tuesdays are tea time where we have a cup of “tea” (I use fruit juice) and read poetry. Wednesdays we watch something that pertains to history or science. On Thursdays, they chose to go on nature adventures with our Nature Anatomy book. Fridays they wanted game day. We choose a game we would all like to play. It can be as simple as you want it. Here is a free printable for our summer routine.

Schedule in a quiet/nap time

Do this for your sanity. Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Everyone needs time alone and there is nothing wrong with that. It’s so important. We have it from 1-2:30. It’s the best time for me to get all of the the things I need to get done without interruptions. Or it’s the perfect time for me to relax.

Keep all your meals at the same time each day

I have children who love snacks. They are always wanting a snack. So, I began timing everything. This helped so much. They always know now when their next meal is.

Establish a bedtime routine

This is just as important as the morning routine. Once again, they know what’s expected and there is no complications. Our bedtime routine consists of pajamas, teeth brushing, bedtime stories, and cuddles. They know at the end of the day they are cherished and loved

I hope this easy summer routine helps. Please use the free printable I have linked above. Stay peaceful.
