Books and Stories
Stories are important not only in our family but also in Waldorf education. We read many books and tell stories for fun, life lessons, and just to share memories with our family. The week of Valentine’s Day these were the stories we read.
Handcrafts
Handcrafts are essential in our homeschool and for this month we are creating felt hearts, a Valentine beeswax candle, and homemade Valentine cards for each other. For the crafts, I use A Child’s Seasonal Treasury book. This book is amazing in helping with all your Waldorf homeschool needs throughout the year. For the felt hearts I took felt and cut them into heart shapes and and then blanket stitched the two hearts together and stuffed them with some filler I had in my sewing box.
Baking
Every Thursday we dive deep into Poetry Tea Time. It’s my children’s favorite part of the week. We make a hot cuppa along with a tasty treat. We then find poetry for the season we are in and share. It is so much fun and delicious. For Valentine’s Day, we made a vanilla cake topped with chocolate truffles and served it with elderberry tea. It was delicious!
