This is my second year of homeschooling and my first time teaching kindergarten. I was a nervous wreck in August. But now it’s April and we have only 6 weeks left. I am so much more confident as is my kindergartener. I am so proud as to how far he has come and what we were able to accomplish. Here is our kindergarten homeschool curriculum.

Math
My kindergartener learns well through music and repetition. So when I was searching for different curriculums those were the things I looked for most. Some stuff I had to make on my own and that’s okay too. The first thing I found best for repetition was Horizon’s Math Curriculum. This is by far my favorite math book I have found. It is Christian based but it’s not too much if you are looking for something more secular. This book is so colorful and it teaches new concepts and repeats previous concepts for each lesson. The lessons only takes us about 10-15 minutes to complete. Most important he loves this book. He always asks to do Math first and is so excited about the numbers.
I also implemented a daily calendar for us to complete together. I created it to fit his needs. I laminated it so we can reuse it each day. You can also use these reusable dry erase pockets. He is able to easily tell me his months, days of the week, and the day’s date. We start our math lesson with this calendar each day and he loves it. You can purchase it here.
Reading
My kindergartener loves to read as well. I did a lot of research to find what was best for teaching to read. I stumbled upon Explode The Code. We would work on it twice a week until we finished our handwriting book. Now we do it daily and honestly I am excited as to how quickly he began to read from it. It worked so well! Another reader I implemented was Bob Books Set 1. They are simple and short little books with simple sentences. With my help he can say the sentences.
Spelling
For spelling I found Spelling You See. I purchased it because of the repetition it contains. It really helped him more with sounds of letters than the reading of words. The worksheets take us about 10 minutes to complete. It comes with stickers and an alphabet chart which helped with recognition as writes.
Handwriting
This year for Handwriting I went with a very simple book, Channie’s My First Letters. He loved this book. We did it three times a week. He knew letters already but this just helped him write them clearer. They have three pages dedicated to one letter. The first page is to write the uppercase letter, then lowercase, and then both. They also have little pictures that begin with that letter that he loved to color. At the end of the book they have the numbers as well.
I hope this helps if you are in search of a simple kindergarten homeschool curriculum.
