My 6 am morning routine is my alone time. I love the early morning and the serenity that comes with it. I am a stay at home mom and homeschool mom.

I used to sleep in until a child woke us up. It was okay, but I couldn’t give my best to these little ones because I hadn’t had a moment to myself yet. I hadn’t had a chance to breathe and prepare myself for the day ahead. I found that I was grouchy and short of patience which would result in major mom guilt. So to be the best I could be, not only for myself but for the kids, I began waking up at 6 am. It’s about one whole hour of peace and quiet.

During this time I am able to meditate, plan our day, and just relax. It gives me a chance to have some peace with myself. I am thankful for this alone time. By giving myself the time I am able to give my little ones the mother they want and need. This is my 6 am morning routine.

My alarm is NOT beside my bed

I do this because I am not a morning person. Now I used to be until I had children. I guess its lack of full night’s sleep. So to get up I have to move my alarm around my room or I will turn it off in my sleep. As I get up to turn it off I start finding things I am grateful for, like waking up in my warm bed.

Brush my teeth and take care of any other bodily needs

Because its self-explanatory teehee.

I immediately go listen to affirmations

YouTube has many morning affirmations (my favorite is linked) and meditation music. I do this while I make me a glass of water to rehydrate.

Meditation on my living room floor

I do this so I do not go back to sleep. After I am finished listening to my affirmations I focus on my breathing for at least ten minutes and allow any thoughts to come. I also have my journal to write any down if I need to.

Lastly, I catch up on my reading.

I normally read something that will get me motivated and pumped for the day to come. It always helps me make better choices for my job as a mother.

What is your morning routine? When do you wake up? What do you do to take care of yourself?
